Seminary Graduation

What a fun night to see seven of our Stockton kids walk for graduation!!!!  We had a great turn-out with many of the Stockton Ward seminary kids and families in attendance.  It was a great night!

We ended up with an extra kids at one point.  Everybody wants to join Stockton!

More (but certainly not all!) of our kids joined in... let the championship cat herding begin!

We lost Dillon for this pic but found a worthy replacement. ;)

There be My Kids!!!!!

The kids had a service project last weekend and apparently a news crew showed up to do a story on them.  There is a shot of Katie in there but she's hard to see behind that hair of hers.  There's a couple of shots with some of my Seminary kids.  So proud of these people!

It's About Time

I'm a little behind on my postings but it's time to get caught up.
First up:
Seminary Graduation!
Here are the kids (minus one) graduating from our ward this year.
Michael came in late due to being at a state track competition all that day.
Before the evening's events started we received a message from Michael that he'd completed his competition and they were driving like mad to make it to graduation.  He arrived a few minutes late but made it in time to stand with the other kids in the ward and limp his way across the stage to be acknowledged and receive his diploma.
Here are Joe, David, Jasa, Jenny, Whitney and Sam...

Seminary. Cemetery. What's the Difference?!

What a year!
And to cap it off I have these two boy seniors in my class...
Enough said.

So, my kind, sweet, nice supervisor asked me to send her pictures of my graduating seniors as she was putting together a slideshow for the graduation ceremony.
Three senior girls?
No problem!
Aren't they cute?!!!

Two senior boys?
EVERY problem  in.  the.  WORLD!!!!!!!!!!
So this is what I get....

I don't think that's quite what my kind, sweet, nice supervisor was hoping for.
Hmmmmmm.....
Gotta work with them on their level....
Gotta use that natural goodness that they do have buried waaaaaay down deep inside them....
Gotta put things in such a way that maybe they learn something from it....
Ask questions!
You can guide kids to learn by asking them questions!
Ok.....  "Hey, guys, what do YOU think we should do for your pictures for the slide show being put together by my kind, sweet, nice supervisor to be shown in the reverent, wonderful, spiritual Seminary graduation ceremony?"

Did I say we should ask teenage boys questions?!
Apparently my brain died and fell out some time back.
WHO in their right mind would ask teenage boys questions in hopes of getting a decent answer?!!!!

So, their idea on how to fulfill this assignment?
Mug shots!
Yeah.
Mug shots.
What great fun!!!!!
Every teenage boy needs a mug shot in his life--especially seminary student teenage boys!
So my dear boys take paper and quickly make themselves a little sign with their "Prisoner" ID number on it and happily hop up to pose for pictures.  For once they were agreeable to looking at the camera so I couldn't let the opportunity pass!  We took pictures!!!!!

Fortunately (well, unfortunately for them), their seminary teacher has mad photoshopping skills so I "fixed" their little signs for them.

And that, my dear ladies and gentlemen, is Seminary!

The Seminary kids vetoed the idea this morning. That's o.k., I think the professional geeks can't be topped! :)

A few young men groups have made these videos for their young women after President Monson told the men in Priesthood session that every woman deserves to be told she's beautiful.

Things I have learned in my first week of seminary:

1)    Keep Joe away from orphans.

2)    Blue Dye #2 is an ice cream flavor.

3)    How to really do  respect, edify, serve.

4)    Keep Joe away from orphans.

5)    That in order to learn I need a good attitude.

6)    Conner is a hero to many people in our class.
Even when they are not there to fill in the question themselves.
And everyone who listed Conner as their hero has exactly the same handwriting
       as Conner.

7)   Sam eats fire for breakfast.

8)    Keep Joe away from orphans.

9)    So many kids in our class look up to their parents.

10)  The air speed velocity of a swallow based upon trigonometric matrices crossed by a
four dimensional quaternion with the imaginary numbers i, j, k representing
the x, y, z axis multiplied by w representing the world to local matrix.

11)   I need to try smores ice cream.

12)  The kids actually do listen to some of the stuff I say.  (scary!)

13)  That we have an awesome bunch of great, humble kids with amazing faith
who are realizing and recognizing the Lord's hand working in their lives every day.

14)  Keep Joe away from orphans.
