Oh deer!
So here's the report and pictures of this year's deer season...thus far...
Rex got a nice button buck from 300 yards.
He and Joe tracked it from the tree house and caught it in a clearing in the treeline.
Staking my claim.
Jason was really excited about this one because it ran at him when he called it.
I guess he's learning how to sweet talk 'em!
This is the best story of this season:
We came home from early morning seminary to find Jason standing on the back deck,
still in pajamas and slippers,
waving at us.
Yep, we left him unsupervised just long enough for him to wander out
and find something worth shooting.
No need to get dressed for such occasions, we don't stand on principle around here!
A chicken for every pot...a deer for every Honda?
The little transportation truck was unavailable this day
so what does every good redneck do?
Stuff a deer in yer trunk!
Don't be jealous 'cause we're cool like that!

It Was....
...a beautiful Fall morning... clear and crisp.
The sun was just beginning to burst into the sky when I heard a single gunshot.
The sun was just beginning to burst into the sky when I heard a single gunshot.
Eventually I heard the four-wheeler fire up out in the shop and off it went down the driveway.
Then I heard it come home.
Let me introduce you to Joe's 10 point buck...
It was a 300 yard shot. Joe said he put the scope on the buck, took the shot and then didn't see the buck. Joe was horrified that he had missed the shot. There was no sign of the buck anywhere.
Jason, the spotter, lost track of the buck right after the shot.
They watched the woods for a while to see if there was any movement.
Nothing.
Yep, the kid has his mama's sniping skills!
And he also has a jack-o-lantern on his head.
They took the buck down to Walt's to have it measured.
And Joe got to pose to have his picture taken for the local paper.
He didn't really appreciate having an audience.
Then the three amigos boarded the trusty to'yota and headed off to the processors.

This is Halloween, Halloween, Halloween
The kids' Halloween costumes for this year. We had Slenderman, one of the Monty Python knights with his foul-tempered rodent, and Rumpelstiltskin. Seth is missing from the pictures, he dressed up as a fry-cook from Sonic and then "felt" the part so much that he ran off to Sonic and started cooking every corndog in sight!
